Summary:

On March 9, 2023, pursuant to Section 2.50.060(b) of the Town of Truckee (“Truckee”) Municipal Code, The Town Manager, acting as the Director of Emergency Services, issued a local emergency proclamation for Truckee to leverage all available tools from local, state, and federal resources in response to potential impacts from the forecasted atmospheric river storm event (“Storm”) resulting in conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property, within all areas of said Town, caused by extreme levels of rain, snow and wind. The District also experienced the same conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property have arisen, within all areas of the District Boundaries including the Truckee and unincorporated areas of Placer, Nevada, and El Dorado Counties, caused by extreme levels of rain, snow and wind and these conditions were beyond the control of the services, personnel, equipment, and facilities of the District, and as a result of the Storm, the District incurred additional costs not included in the annual budget in the following areas: -Snow Removal -Overtime for essential staff -Food loss from power outages -additional costs associated with mandatory non-workday (“call-off”) -Personnel, vendor, and material costs for repairs to damaged buildings and infrastructure The District is also requesting to be eligible for emergency funds made available to reimburse additional costs and declares that a local emergency now exists throughout the District.
